The jump from a $40 bidet attachment to a $600 electric seat feels steep. The Brondell SE400 at $199 is designed to be the bridge. We tested it alongside the full Brondell lineup to see where it sits honestly in the hierarchy.
The SE400 is the most accessible entry point into a proper electric bidet seat. It gets the two features that matter most — heated seat and warm water — at a price that's hard to argue with.

Full Review
Brondell strips the SE400 down to essentials: heated seat with three temperature settings, warm water rear and feminine wash, adjustable pressure, and a side control panel — no remote. What you get is the core electric seat experience without the premium features (no dryer, no remote, no deodorizer) that drive up the cost of the 1400.
In testing, the heated seat is excellent — genuinely warm within 30 seconds and consistent across the 30+ minutes we tested. Warm water is reliable for approximately 40–50 seconds, then transitions to cooler. For single-use sessions, this is more than sufficient. The side panel is clearly labeled and easy to use without a manual.
Build quality reflects the price — good, but not Brondell 1400-level. The housing is solid plastic with a light matte finish. We noticed no flex or instability at the mounting. Install is 20 minutes with a standard outlet nearby.
For buyers comparing this to a non-electric attachment: the difference is immediately felt on the first use. Sitting on a pre-warmed seat with warm water wash is a qualitatively different experience than cold-water attachments. The SE400 delivers that experience at the lowest price point in the category.
